New Dye to Craft Youtube channel

Embroidery coming to Dye to Craft!

For the last 12 months it has been great to share my small amount of knowledge on natural dyeing with those of you who aIso like to play with nature. This is still my number one love and the main focus of this website. I still have many more experiments that I have tried and still want to try and share with you all, as we build up our knowledge on natural dyeing together.

Our natural dyeing however, does have a purpose. The beautiful array of colours that we produce marry up with whatever craft and art love that we have. To this end I have decided to start a Youtube channel which focusses more on the craft side of Dye to Craft.

I will still do the odd post on craft on this site and I have another free slow stitch tutorial coming up in the next few weeks. But the bulk of the posts on this site will remain dedicated to all the dyers because I know, that if you are anything like me, there is never enough natural dye material to experiment with.

The Youtube channel

So the Dye to Craft channel has been set up to look after the craft enthusiasts among us with the first major craft that we are looking at being embroidery. Our first major project is a sample stitch book taking us right back to the basics of embroidery.

I still remember the first embroidery I ever did. I was only a young girl and I remember doing a cushion that was geometrically embroidered with wool. It is still such a vivid memory and something I know I enjoyed in my first steps to creativity. That is why I have decided to start with embroidery using 2ply wool thread.

The wool thread is easy to use and easy to see the results of. A great way to start. It is also the best to dye! Being wool you get the most vivid and steadfast colours. The threads used are all available on the Dye to Craft etsy site which is linked below. However you will also find instructions on how to dye your own threads on this web site. I will make sure whatever colours used are also found right here, for those of you who really want the overall dyeing and crafting experience.

So come and join in the fun. Whether you want to dye the materials yourself, purchase from our etsy shop or use your own supplies. Everyone is welcome and hopefully we can start a community of both dyers and crafters.
